Success in school requires some very specific abilities to be in place in order for academic success to take place. Because we work with a model of intelligence, we are able to pin point abilities that are weak and causing the learning issues. The assessment gives us a picture of a child’s overall strengths and weakness in a set of broad, general abilities and among the specific abilities related directly to curriculum related tasks.

Is reading stressful or difficult?

SOLUTION:
Identify weak abilities required for reading.

Reading requires the development of 11 specific abilities. Six of these abilities are ones that are needed in order to learn how to read. Weaknesses in any of these abilities show problems with the fundamentals of reading generally. When these abilities are not well developed, students will experience stress, fatigue and frustration when it comes to reading.

The other five reading abilities are what we call advanced abilities. Students need these abilities in place in order to learn from reading. Beginning around the fourth grade in school, students are expected to be able to read and fully comprehend what they are reading. This period of time is when students start getting reading assignments not only in literature, but also in history, science and other subjects.

Problems at this point will start showing up in grades and behavior. Most importantly it will start to impact a students self esteem and confidence. Problems in reading at this point are not going to improve. It is going require intervention and remediation to overcome them. the earlier they are identified the better it is for the student.

Our assessment procedure will identify any weakness in these abilities and our intervention strategies will develop them so they are not a problem in the future.

Is math causing frustration and anxiety?

If you live in the Phoenix, AZ metro area we offer one-to-one services with a therapist at our offices in Surprise, AZ. Times can be arrange to accommodate schedules for students.

Home based

Programs

If parents choose this option, following the assessment, we will provide complete home program for students. The program will consist of specific activities with materials to use at home and a list of suggested materials to purchase for developing and improving a students intellectual abilities. Periodic conference are available to review progress and modify the home program.

We offer assessment and therapy services online. Working with one of our therapist students can complete the assessment online. Results of the assessment and recommendations are provided to parents in an online conference. Our individualized therapy services are also provided for students online. Therapists meet with students twice a week to work on abilities which need to be developed or improved.
